Abstract

Akron is a new connection game played with marbles on a square grid. Most games in this family, such as the classics Hex and Y, tend to be hexagonal in nature to avoid problems with deadlocks in the plane. Gonnect is a rare exception on the square grid that uses Go-like captures to elegantly get around this problem. Akron takes a different route; upwards. Players resolve deadlocks by stacking pieces to step over enemy blocks.
