Abstract

In this paper we explore the use of functional programming languages in the design and implementation of discrete-event simulation programs. We show, in particular, how language features such as polmorphism, higher-order functions and lazy evaluation can be used to develop powerful, re-usable, library modules for, among others, event management, simulation monitoring and statistical analysis.
